The professionals at Dorn Psychological Consultants provide psychological and educational services for children, adolescents, and adults in the Edmonton/St. Albert area. We work with individuals, families, and schools.COVID Information: Our office is open to provide information by phone and to provide assessments by appointment. We currently taking appointments to assess children age 6+ with precautions in place to meet health regulations.
Assessment
Our staff specialize in psychoeducational assessment. Psychoeducational assessment provides precise information about cognitive abilities and educational achievement levels. This produces a document that can help to:- Effectively identify areas of strength and weakness
- Assist in the identification and classification of learning disorders and other factors affecting learning (anxiety, attention, behaviour)
- Make informed decisions regarding eligibility for educational services and educational placements
- Design instructional objectives and provide practical interventions
Counselling
Our counselling services can provide support for people managing many life circumstances, including transitions, anxiety, depression, grief, phobias, processing of traumatic experiences, workplace issues, learning disabilities, attention, and various concerns relating to stress.Counselling can provide a warm, accepting environment where the unique story of the individual can be understood. Our counsellors have interest in cognitive-behavioural and mindfulness-based perspectives. We try to provide caring, practical, and creative approaches to better manage real-life situations.
